These files form the interview portions of a three hour radio program devoted to Doo Dah, The Bonzo Dog Band Fan Club. Most of the music aired was from commercial releases I already had in my collection. Anything played that was not in my collection at the time is included in the recording. I was mostly interested in hearing my friend Dean Cole and his Doo Dah pals, Mark Sceurman and Pete Valliere in their attempt to widen the fan base of the band. In the mid 1980's they published a newsletter package, informing fans of the current doings of the band members.

This program aired on WFMU-FM, East Orange, New Jersey, probably around 1985. The files have been run through noise reduction software to reduce tape hiss and hum, but there are parts which remain noisy in spite of my best efforts. Another thing to note here is that for the first few minutes of the interview there were problems in the studio, and the Doo Dah gang was off-mike.

An AMAZING recording! I think Roky is reading out of his book, Openers and putting music to the poems/songs. It's all religious stuff and really gorgeous. "Jesus is not a hallucinogenic mushroom..." you gotta love that man. Some of these songs HAVE NEVER been heard and only known in lyrical form (until now). This is a real find.

I think you Syd Barrett folks will want this. You'll know what I mean when you hear it. It's like a "Barrett" session only with religious lyrics but they're lyrics that Roky wrote. It's NOT "Church" music. This is a REAL find and addition to the Roky Catalog. I'm telling you, this is the REAL DEAL.

The quality is a master tape clone that has been tweaked with Cool Edit Pro. The mic is right up there on the stage with Roky and he even bumps it a few times. The quality is gorgeous.

1970's reunions. One is from Mother Earth in Austin on 2/11/73. This doesn't include Stacy or Tommy. The band sounds out of tune and out of practice. Still, it has moments and this band does sound the closest to the original group of all the reunions. The second part is Ol' Dog Saloon, Ingram, TX, 5/28/77. This has Stacy, John Ike, Ronnie but no Roky. A blues belter fills in on vocals. Both recordings are hand held audience and high gen. They have been processed.

13th Floor Elevators at the Liberty Lunch in Austin, June 16th, 1984, about 123 minutes, and The 13th Floor Elevators live at The New Orleans Club as broadcasted by KAZZ-FM on March 16th, 1966, 30 minutes.

The 1984 show is taken from a first generation high bias cassette of the original beta cam recording. This is the complete show, and the sound is MUCH better then the two previously released pieces (Collectables 'Last Concert' and 'Live In Texas' - side 2). The show is total high energy, Roky is in great voice, the band kicks ass, and the crowd of over 1000 Elevators/Roky fans is loving it.

The 13th Floor Elevators on KAZZ-FM is from a tape of unknown generation. This is the complete 30-minute radio show in original order with lots of historically interesting announcer comments, and I believe it is rather rare in this uncut form. The recording methods were obviously primitive, but the band with its original line-up are at their peak, 'Roller Coaster' and 'Gloria' are fantastic. "After you trip life opens up" - on the Texas air waves in early 1966!

The b-side, Neurotic Saga, was written by one Blakeley according to the German and Dutch labels, by Burt Blakey and William Bennett according to the French and Spanish labels. On the French picture sleeve it even says: No. 1 au Hit-parade! (Frans Steensma)

Hippie Hippie Hourrah, est un très bon titre de pop légèrement psyché avec des textes acides.
Le plus difficile est un titre moyen de variété dans la lignée des play boys.
Les rois de la réforme est un morceau étrange, pas mal sans être renversant.
Au final pas le meilleur ep de Dutronc, dans la bonne moyenne avec deux excellents titres, un valable, et un franchement pas terrible.(rate your music)

It's wildly inventive music and, as pure sound, the Move may never have been better than they are here, as there are more ideas in each of these long, languid jams than most bands have in a career. Once again, the sheer number of ideas can be intimidating upon first listen and there may be so many that some listeners may never get past this rush of invention, but Shazam rewards repeated spins many times over.

Lo de bandas gallegas me imagino que te referiras a banda españolas, por que hay de todo, pero como anecdota te comento que Ibiza sound eran un grupo de guiris afincados en Ibiza, por lo que el disco no es del todo 100% español o gallego como decis en tu querida Arqgentina.

Assembled on these records are a collection of historic & valuable recordings from a unique era in radio broadcasting.
During the mid sixties, when the offshore radio stations were at their peak, an estimated 35 million listeners a day, turned these broadcasts, which were beamed from defunct ships and rusty war-time forts, scattered around our coast.

May these lps serve as a reminder, a permanent record and a keep-sake of some of the happy, historic & dramatic moments in the history of offshore radio broadcasting.

7% Solution - Gabriel's Waltz (1999)

The new release from Texas-based Seven Percent Solution offers up more of the bands' beautifully mind expanding psychedelia and is a magnificent follow up to their debut CD "All About Satellites And Spaceships". The band consists of Reese Beeman on guitar, bass, and vocals, James Adkisson on guitar, Scott Sasser on drums, and Julian Capps on guitar and bass (apparently having replaced Dwayn Moore).

Seven Percent Solution plays dreamy guitar-driven psychedelia with soft lullaby vocals. The guitars work together to create some of the most beautiful psych I've heard in a while. This is floating trippy music rather than being acid psych. The guitarists do such an admirable and creative job of developing their sounds that it's hard to believe no keyboards or synths are used. While listening to the song "The Innocentes" I jotted down a note asking "are there really no keys?", and the band later confirmed that the music is all guitars with this track being the exception from both CD's (an omnichord was used on this track).

The band creates an atmosphere that one could get lost in right from the opening track ("Dear Anne") with one guitar strumming softly while the other creates a synth-like choral background. "Threshold" is a similar song that really displays the bands ability to create both atmosphere and melody.

When it came out in 1999, there wasn’t much else on the music scene that sounded anything like Mushroom’s Analog Hi-Fi Surprise. Utilizing the rhythmic structures of modern electronica, but playing music on vintage instruments that combined the groundbreaking jazz styles of Bitches Brew era Miles Davis and Head Hunters era Herbie Hancock with the German kosmische musik explorers like Can and Neu!, Mushroom created a masterwork of freaked out funky fusion and swirling psychedelic space jazz that has, in the few short years since its release, been highly influential in its own right. And although it may be a little bit premature for a re-issue with bonus tracks, I don’t think you’ll hear any Mushroom fans complaining. Certainly not this one!

For a band that's only been together a short time, space rockers Mushroom are certainly prolific! On its sixth release, the instrumental band mine the depths of Krautrock while pushing the envelope of electronica by using vintage musical equipment in place of state-of-the-art computerized gadgets. "The Magic of Michael" and "October 1970" are trance-missions while "Rackets" hovers more in King Crimson territory thanks to guitarist Dan Olmstead's own brand of "Frippertronics" (the man-made electronic sounds give the song an absolutely contemporary edge). And there seem to be no shortage of clever titles in the 'shroom's bag of tricks: "Our buddy Miles" riffs on keyboards and funk, while "A song of remembrance for a time when wife swapping was considered politically correct" is all about the feedback. Shin jung hyun played his band questions with guest singers(Kim Chu-Ja,Song Man-Su,Park In-Su) at this live show. Recommendable songs are Side A4 and Side B1. Side A5 Funky Broadway is a cover song of Wilson Picket and great psychedelic improvisation!! and Side B has a only one song. The song is a cover song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida of Iron Butterfly. This cover play of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida of Iron Butterfly is a legend, till now. I think that this live song is a best of best Korean psychedelic live Jam!! and great and very very nice noise feast.
Highly recommendable record!!

In the summer of 1964, Tony Jackson was considered one of the hottest talents in Liverpool. As bassist and lead singer of the Searchers up to but not including "Needles and Pins" (when John McNally and Mike Pender took over the singing), he was the most recognizable member of the one major Liverpool group not managed by Brian Epstein.
